Who is this Rob Roy person? He used to a be a guy who JUST played records. Started out as a CD DJ back in 1992 playing hip-hop, then moving on to deep house as he acquired turntables and a steady diet of influence from his friend across the street. But once he heard "jungle" on 107.1fm (before it was Spanish, and before it was rock) something clicked. Soon after he chose to focus, mostly, on jungle. But what's up now? I guess you could call it growth. Spiritual growth? Maybe. Artistic growth? More likely... but could be a combination. He's become ever-more conscious of electronic music, its downfalls and has decided that he has to contribute. To do something about it rather than complain and become nothing but another picky record shopper. So, to school he goes. School? Not really. He and a group of producers have formed a collective to help each other with music production with the goal (for Rob Roy, at least) of playing mostly his own music in DJ sets instead of only that of others. This is all with the intention of elevating the music to something that hits at gut level and can be appreciated by people that aren't into electronic music per se. To hold people's attention on its own merit rather than thru the use of gimmicks (aka recognizable samples and cliches). As he gets to the bottom of the music enigma, he shall gather nuggets of wisdom and bring forth music that shall yield insights which shall please thee. Things won't be TOO much different in the future... more of the good and less of the bad, I suppose. Refuse to lose,
